A nursing associate is a registered healthcare professional who bridges the gap between Healthcare Support Workers and Registered Nurses. The role was introduced in England to support the nursing workforce. NA’s are trained to deliver hands-on care and carry out a wide range of clinical tasks. They work under the direction of registered nurses but also have their own accountability as registered professionals, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
